MARIJUANA AND HYPERTENSION WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS TOPIC

Are you a CBD weed enthusiast and want to learn more about cannabis studies?

You should know that research on marijuana and its positive effects lags behind other studies, so to speak.

In fact, prohibition, although not complete, has led to a ban on cannabis consumption in almost all countries, especially the United States and even France. As a result, the dissemination of information about the benefits of marijuana has also been slowed by governments.

Furthermore, until a few decades ago, only negative information about cannabis was available, which was manipulated by many governments (as reported in cannabis documentaries).

For example, everyone knows that marijuana can cause addiction and alter the psyche through THC (this as you know does not happen with CBD cannabis).

In 2017, it was claimed that weed consumption significantly increases the risk of death from high blood pressure, the leading cause of heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular diseases.

But are marijuana and high blood pressure really related? What is true in this statement?

a study on the cannabis

The (retracted) marijuana and high blood pressure study

In 2017, a study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology about high blood pressure as a direct result of marijuana use caused a stir.

The authors of the study explained that based on their results, cannabis use could have negative effects on the cardiovascular system, increasing the risk of death from high blood pressure.

The results were determined by analyzing data from 1,200 patients aged 20 and older. Information obtained from another study, the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Survey, and then correlated with mortality data provided by the US Department of Health and Human Services.

But this 2017 research on cannabis and high blood pressure is unreliable.

The authors of the study also referred to “marijuana smokers” as those who had only tried it once, not just regular users.

Furthermore, the meaning of the word “regularly” was not clear. Who used marijuana every day? Who once a week or once a month? It wasn’t clear.

As a result, the research results can only be very inaccurate, as one joint cannot affect the entire life, let alone the risk of hypertension.

That’s not all. Drug dealers often do not sell pure cannabis but are contaminated with other substances. Mouse poison, water spray and lead are just a few of the elements that often contaminate cannabis flowers purchased on the black market. And it’s unknown whether the study participants used marijuana or not.

In any case, the study entitled “Effect of marijuana use on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular mortality” was subsequently retracted by the same publisher in agreement with the authors.

The survey included a study of marijuana use among people participating in the National Health and Nutrition Survey. But not everyone was still alive.

Instead of the results of the study, a warning appears on the site page:

“A methodological error led to immortality bias in the results of this article. As a result, the survival intervals of the participants who completed this survey were not satisfactory.

Not all patients who died before 2005 would be able to complete posthumous marijuana use testing. Therefore, it is not possible to determine marijuana use in patients who died before 2005.

Study on CBD cannabis and hypertension

But beyond this study, what do we know about cannabis and high blood pressure? What if we focus exclusively on CBD, the main active ingredient in legal CBD cannabis, and CBD oil?

CBD and high blood pressure

Cannabidiol, commonly known as CBD, is one of the main non-psychoactive principles of cannabis. In particular, with traditional marijuana, CBD is accompanied by THC (often as a high percentage). However, with CBD flowers, the CBD rate is often above 10 or 20%, while THC must be less than 1% according to Swiss law.

It is a substance with many positive effects on our body; The CBD has features:

inflammatory
antiepileptic
antioxidant
antiemetic
calming
antipsychotic

But research on this topic is still ongoing, so much so that we are investigating its possible ability to curb the spread of certain cancers…

Current studies include CBD as an aid in the fight against high blood pressure

Take for example the results of research: “A single dose of cannabidiol lowers blood pressure in healthy volunteers in a random cross-over study” or the fact that “a single dose of cannabidiol lowers blood pressure in healthy volunteers in a random cross-over study” healthy volunteers in a random cross study”.

In this study, conducted by the National Center for Biotechnology Information and published in 2017, nine healthy male volunteers received 600 mg of CBD or placebo as part of a cross-study. Cardiovascular parameters were controlled using one of the technical measuring devices and a laser Doppler.

CBD reduced systolic blood pressure and systolic volume, increased heart rate, and maintained heart rate. In fact, subjects who took CBD showed low blood pressure (especially before and after stress), an accelerated heart rate and a decrease in systolic volume.

In response to stress, did the subjects experience CBD? a reduced blood pressure and increased heart rate, as well as lower overall peripheral resistance.

These data show that CBD administration reduces resting blood pressure and increases heart rate in stressed men.

According to the researchers, further studies are needed to determine whether the Cannabidiol plays a role in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

And we look forward to seeing you!
