Therefore, this substance plays a decisive role in the plant.<\/p>\n But what do we really know about cannabigerol and its effects, apart from the fact that it\u00a0is the mother of all other cannabinoids<\/strong>?<\/p>\n Cannabigerol is processed by our body via the\u00a0endocannabinoid system<\/strong>, like CBD and THC<\/a>.<\/p>\n Cannabis phytocannabinoids mimic the effect of endocannabinoids (produced naturally by our body), but each molecule has a different outcome.<\/p>\n For example, THC (the psychotropic substance contained in high proportions in illegal cannabis) works by binding to CB1 receptors in the brain,\u00a0and CBG binds to CB2 receptors<\/strong>\u00a0in the nervous system, connective tissue, and intestines.<\/p>\n Nevertheless, it is essential to know that cannabigerol\u00a0has no psychotropic properties.<\/strong>\u00a0Therefore, it does not alter the perception of the reality of those who take it. Still, it causes many effects that attract the attention of scientists worlwide, both in the pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical fields.<\/p>\n According to the studies carried out so far, cannabigerol seems to have, mainly, the following effects:<\/p>\n For example, studies in mice at the University of Naples (and published in 2013) have shown that cannabigerol (CBG)\u00a0can limit the effects of colitis and inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract<\/strong>\u00a0(IBD).<\/p>\n However, some studies published in 2015 in the journal \u00ab\u00a0Neurotherapeutics\u00a0\u00bb show that CBG can be successfully used\u00a0to treat neurodegenerative disease<\/strong>s.
