HERE ARE THE REMEDIES TO ELIMINATE THE DRY MOUTH SENSATION AFTER USING CANNABIS.
Dry mouth is one of the most common and troublesome side effects associated with the use of marijuana, cannabinoid drugs and – to a much lesser extent – CBD cannabis. This effect is due to anandamide (or simply AEA). It is a less known cannabinoid than THC and CBD but capable of interacting with cannabinoid receptors in the submaxillary gland.
This interaction inhibits the action of this gland, responsible for more than 50% of saliva production, and determines xerostomia, or dryness of the oral cavity. You can only avoid this feeling with legal hash and CBD oil. These products contain exclusively cannabidiol and not anandamide (nor THC or other cannabinoids).
But what can you do about this when you use cannabis and get this feeling? Here are 3 ways to get out of the unpleasant sensation of dry mouth!
1) Remedies for dry mouth after taking cannabis? Drink small sips of water while you smoke.
If, after smoking, your thirst becomes relentless, you should know that the best way to minimise dry mouth is not to drink afterwards, but to drink water while taking it. With medical marijuana-based medicines, this is much simpler as many come in the form of pills, capsules, decoction papers and herbal teas and therefore already provide for the consumption of water. Still, if you smoke marijuana, you should drink it while you use it.
This method allows you to lubricate your mouth little by little, thus avoiding drying it out in a very annoying way. But be careful: drink water or at most milk, not soft drinks and fizzy drinks!
2) Avoid drinking alcohol and soft drinks during and after taking cannabis.
Fruit juices, wine and beer, contain tannins, which have an astringent effect and also limit the production of saliva. Therefore, we recommend that you avoid them during and after cannabis use. Drinking alcohol will not help you to resolve the dry mouth feeling as alcohol can interact too negatively with cannabinoids, increasing the side effects of their consumption.
For these reasons, we recommend that you only drink natural mineral water (both fresh and at room temperature) when consuming CBD weed or high THC grass.
Alternatively, if you wish, you can also sip fresh milk: it is said that milk is much more thirst-quenching than water. More precisely, it seems that the nutrients contained in milk can hydrate better and longer than water, guaranteeing an excellent remineralising effect.
… But what happens if you don’t have water or milk available when you take cannabis, or if it doesn’t seem to be enough?
3) Stimulate salivation by eating the right food!
If you don’t have enough water to quench your thirst after taking medicines made from cannabis or marijuana, we recommend that you stimulate salivation.
Wondering how to do this? The answer is straightforward: some foods and practices stimulate the activity of the salivary glands. Here are some of them:
- Citrus fruits;
- Chewing gum;
- Fruity candies;
- Raw vegetables;
- Mustard and pepper;
- Chinese cuisine (it is not a joke: the reason is related to the use of monosodium glutamate, which stimulates the production of saliva).
If you do not have any food available on this list? Don’t worry, read the next paragraph where we give you the ideal remedy!
Bonus tip: Make your mouth water to increase saliva production.
If your mouth is extremely dry and you don’t have any of the above foods, you don’t need to rush to the nearest supermarket – think of the food! Food cravings will also help. Make your mouth water by thinking about the foods you like most and, if that’s not enough, pick up your mobile phone and watch videos of these foods.
Trust us: it’s a great tip to increase salivation in no time at all and cancel that dry, restless mouth feeling.
Dry mouth is one of the most common side effects of cannabis (even if it is a mild one) and cannabinoids, but not from CBD hash and CBD oil sativa. The reason is simple: the effect is not related to THC or CBD, but to another, a less well-known cannabinoid called anandamide (AEA).
Therefore, products that contain CBD, such as CBD Flowers and CBD oil exclusively, do not have AEA and therefore do not give the impression of a dry mouth.
In any case, you now know what to do when you encounter this situation:
- Drink plenty of water or milk, preferably while sipping while taking CBD Buds or marijuana medicines for medical purposes;
- Avoid drinking wine, fruit juices and other tannic drinks, which further limit saliva production;
- Eating foods that stimulate the action of the salivary glands;
- If you do not have food or water available, or if these products are not enough, think carefully about your favourite dishes and possibly watch videos and pictures of them.
It will allow you to hydrate yourself correctly (or produce more saliva) to overcome the dry mouth feeling as quickly as possible!
